    Jags keep winning

    The San Jose City College women's basketball team remained very much alive in the state community college tournament with a pair of wins last week.

    The Jaguars crushed the College of the Sequoias 73-38, then came back with a tight 57-55 win over Solano in the third round of the tournament.

    The Jaguars improved to 28-6 for the year with the two wins.

    YMCA programs

    The Northwest YMCA is now accepting signups for indoor soccer, basketball and roller hockey.

    The winter indoor soccer program for boys and girls ages 3-7 begins March 20 and runs through April 24. Games are played on Saturdays, noon-2 p.m., and the registration deadline is March 12.

    Youth basketball for boys and girls in grades 4-8 begins March 20 and runs through May. Games are played on Saturdays beginning at 9 a.m., and the registration deadline is March 12. The cost is $72 per player, and a $25 YMCA membership is required.

    Roller hockey play for boys and girls in grades K-8 begins April 10 and runs through June 12. Games are played on Saturdays, and the registration deadline is April 2. The cost is $67 per player, and a $25 YMCA membership is required. Volunteer coaches are also needed for the yough roller hockey league.

    The YMCA also offers a peewee floor hockey instructional program for boys and girls ages 3-5. Classes run April 10-June 12.

    There are no standings, tryouts or scorekeeping in the YMCA programs, and all children play. For more information, call Matt Klock at 257-7160, ext. 19.
