    Volunteers needed

    The Cupertino Senior Center is starting a new program for volunteers who would like to donate their time to visit an assigned senior citizen in Cupertino or West San Jose once a week. Interested volunteers must attend three training sessions on March 30, April 6 and 13, at the senior center. Volunteers must also be able to attend monthly training sessions on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 1:30 to 3 p.m. For more information, or to RSVP for the training sessions, call Debbie Nielsen at 408.777.3157.

    Peninsula Symphony

    The Peninsula Symphony will perform on March 17, at 8 p.m. at the Flint Center in Cupertino. Included in the concert will be Brahms Violin Concerto, music from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet by Tchaikovsky and more. Tickets are $22. For more information, call 408.277.0595.

    Massage Workshop

    The Marianist Center of Cupertino will host a shiatsu massage workshop for couples on March 21, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the center, 22622 Marianist Way, Cupertino. Couples, families and friends are welcome to learn the ancient art of nurturing, healing and massage. Cost is $75 per couple, preregistration is required.     Internet Training

    The Calabazas branch of the San Jose Public Library is offering free basic Internet training classes Mondays from 4 to 6 p.m., Fridays from 4 to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon at the library, 1230 Blaney Ave., San Jose.     Bone Density Testing

    The Foundation for Osteoporosis Research and Education will hold bone-density testing on March 17, from 10 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at Longs Drugs, 19750 Stevens Creek Blvd., Cupertino. Cost is $30 for the painless, noninvasive scan of the forearm. No appointment is necessary, but the testing will be done on a first-come, first-serve basis.     Career Action Center

    The Career Action Center of Cupertino is hosting two free introduction programs on March 17 and 20, at 10:30 a.m. at the center, 10420 Bubb Road, suite 100, Cupertino. The program will include information about the career center's programs and services and a free tour of the Career Knowledge Management Center, the Bay Area's largest and most extensive career resource library. Free introductions are held on the first and third Tuesday and Saturday of each month, at 10:30 a.m. and the second and fourth Thursday, at 6 p.m. For more information, call 408.343.2708.

    Wild West Walk-A-Thon

    Montclaire Elementary School will hold its annual walk-a-thon and silent auction on March 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the school, 1160 St. Joseph Ave., Los Altos. The fundraising event is organized by the Montclaire Educational Foundation, and raised $85,000 last year for Montclaire, which is part of the Cupertino Union School District. Students from kindergarten through sixth grade will earn money from sponsors for each lap they walk around the school. The silent auction will feature more than 200 items, including a getaway to the Four Season's resort in Hawaii; Harry Potter paraphernalia; slumber party kits; Game Boy accessories; and more. A live auction will be held at noon, featuring items such as a Santa Barbara getaway and a complete gymnastics party package at Gold Star Gymnastics. For more information, call 650.960.3601.

    Cupertino youth soccer looking for players

    A De Anza girls under-13 Class 3 soccer team is looking for players (born after July 31, 1987) for the spring and fall seasons. The team is professionally trained. For more information, call Janet Roberts at 408.252.3082 or e-mail Janet5R@aol.com.
