    Signal upgrades may cause delays

Motorists on Stevens Creek Boulevard, De Anza Boulevard and Wolfe Road may experience delays this week as city workers install new traffic signal controllers along those routes.

The project includes an upgrade to new traffic management software for the Traffic Operations Center at City Hall. The signal upgrades will also effect some intersections along Homestead Road.

Public Works Director Bert Viskovich said the new equipment is "state-of-the-art" and will be fine-tuned to match the traffic-flow needs of drivers in the city.

    CREST award nominations due

The city is accepting nominations for its annual CREST (Cupertino Recognizes Extra Steps Taken) award, which goes to as many as 10 local volunteers who have made significant contributions to the community over the previous year.

Members of city advisory commissions will look at nominations and select the winners. Awards will be presented to winners at a May 18 ceremony at City Hall. Deadline for submitting nominations is March 15.
