Police investigate child-abduction attempt

    Sheriff's Report

    The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.

    Soliciting without permit--Feb. 25, 5:10 p.m., Carmen Road at Quintero Court. Two suspects selling a cleaning solution door-to-door were cited for selling their product without obtaining a permit from the city.

    Soliciting prostitution--Feb. 25, 5:30 p.m., M&A Alternative Therapy Massage Salon, 19997 Stevens Creek Blvd. A subject at the salon agreed to perform an act of prostitution on Feb. 23. The suspect was arrested and released on a promise to appear in municipal court.

    Mail theft, card theft--Feb. 25, 6:34 p.m., 10700 block of Morengo Drive Sometime between Jan. 31 and Feb. 16 suspects took mail, including an ATM card, out of a woman's mailbox, then activated the card and began using it. The victim discovered the card had been used when she called the bank a third time to request a new card. Total charges to her account totaled $281.19. After the bank canceled the card, the suspects tried to pay the victim $300 in restitution on Feb. 22, but she declined.

    Burglary--March 7, 1:30 p.m., Blockbuster Video, 19805 Stevens Creek Blvd. Four subjects walked into the store. While one distracted the clerk, the other three took new release videos from their cases, then walked out of the store with nine copies of Eyes Wide Shut, worth a total value of $900. The same subjects also reportedly took property from the store last month.

    Found property--March 6, 6:45 p.m., 18700 block of Hanna Street. An electric guitar was found lying unattended on the sidewalk.

    Grand theft--March 6, 8:30 p.m., Nova Care, 20289 Stevens Creek Blvd. A total of $935 in cash, $2,710 in checks and some receipts were reported missing from a safe.

    Vandalism--March 3, 11:30 p.m., Jack in the Box, 1451 S. De Anza Blvd. A male on a bicycle rode up to the drive-through lane of the restaurant and placed an order. When the manager told him he couldn't serve someone on a bike, the rider became angry and punched the intercom box, shorting out the order board, then rode away toward Prospect Road.

    Grand theft--March 3, 4 p.m., Sun Microsystems, 20450 Stevens Creek Blvd. A company laptop that was locked to a bench with a steel wire was stolen during the previous night.

    Unlawful dumping--March 1, 12 p.m., Home of Christ Church, 10340 Bubb Road. The driver of a red pickup truck dumped a dishwasher behind the church.
