Planning approves power extension
The city of Cupertino Planning Commission voted 4 to 1 to approve an extension on a PG&E electrical tower that will contain 16 panel antennae to provide a telecommunications company with wireless data transfer coverage area. The company wishes to add an extension on top of the tower, located behind the Cupertino Loc-N-Stor, in order to obtain the best coverage for its services. This requires both a use permit for the antennae and a height exception for the extension, since the current height limit for antennae is 55 feet. With the extension, the tower will be the tallest in Cupertino, at 142 feet. The commission approved both the use permit and the height exception, with only Commissioner Kwok voting nay.
