Vikes all-league

Senior forward Nick Emmanuel and senior guard Emmy Opene of Lynbrook were both named to the all-league team for basketball in the De Anza Division of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League this winter.

Emmanuel was named to the all-league first team after leading the Vikings to a fifth-place finish in the league standings. Ben Selby of Palo Alto was the league's most valuable player, and other first-team picks were Mike McSweeney of Los Gatos, Dino Quintero of Los Altos, Jose Suarez and Delbert Haynes of Wilcox, Dave Persyko and Lucas Danna of Paly and Billy Craig of Milpitas.

Opene was named to the second team along with Matt Gingery of Los Gatos, Greg West of Wilcox, Isaac Gradman of Paly and Jason Billie and Fernando Pelazzo of Milpitas.

Alex Jackson of Milpitas and Joseph Griffin of Paly were named co-MVPs of the De Anza Division's all-league frosh-soph team.

Players earning first-team recognition included Beau Knight, Ben Winkelman and Jeff Patterson of Los Gatos, Mike Wright and Chris Catral of Milpitas, Aaron Wilson and Joey Willis of Paly and Michael Stevens and Steven Davis of Lynbrook.

Youth football signups

The Cupertino-Sunnyvale Pop Warner football organization will hold signups for players ages 7-15 on April 18 and May 16, 9 a.m.-noon each day, at Fair Oaks Park in Sunnyvale. For more information, call 737-9654.

Girls' basketball camps

A series of girls' basketball camps will be held at Santa Clara University this summer with sessions starting June 6 through July 31. For more information, call Shaunice Warr at 554-4567.

Youth roller hockey

The Northwest YMCA is currently holding registration for its youth roller hockey league season.

The league is open to boys and girls in grades K-8, and the season runs April 11-June 13. The cost is $65 per player, plus a $20 membership to the YMCA.

In addition, the YMCA offers a pee wee floor hockey instructional program for boys and girls ages 3-5. Pee wee hockey is conducted in a class format, and classes begin April 11. The cost is $65 per player.
