    Hussein, Krause star for Homestead

    Jameel Hussein and David Krause each fired solid rounds of golf to lead Homestead to back-to-back wins over Gunn last week.

    Hussein carded a two-over par 38 at the Palo Alto Golf Course to lead the Mustangs to a 212-223 win over Gunn, and Krause carded a one-over 36 at San Jose Municipal in a 205-220 win over the Titans.

    Homestead had lost 207-217 to Los Altos earlier in the week at the Los Altos Country Club.

    The Mustangs are now 6-1 in the De Anza Division and 9-3 for the year.

    Cupertino, meanwhile, lost a tight 209-210 decision to Los Altos at Shoreline and lost 196-205 to Palo Alto at Palo Alto. Mohammad Gorjestani shot even-par with a 36 at Palo Alto.

    Monta Vista split in league action last week, edging Los Gatos 212-213 at the Lake Merced Country Club before losing 207-215 to Saratoga on the same course. The Matadors are now 5-2 in league play.

    Mustangs win

    Junior Josh Cavin buried 12 kills to lead the Homestead boys volleyball team to a 15-7, 15-8, 15-3 win over Saratoga last week. The win left the Mustangs 2-0 in the De Anza Division and 7-3 for the year. Homestead will host Fremont on April 3, 7 p.m.

    Colt baseball registrations

    The Sunnyvale-Cupertino Colt League is currently holding registration for players ages 15-16. Tryouts will be held April 28, 9 a.m., at Ortega Park. For more information, call 408.245.7669.
