Cherry Blossom Festival coming to Memorial Park
The 19th annual Cherry Blossom Festival, which honors Cupertino's sister city of Toyokawa, Japan, will be held at Memorial Park April 20 and 21. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and admission is free. The event offers a wide selection of Japanese food and beverages, entertainment, demonstrations, cultural exhibits, art, crafts and clothing for sale. A special children's section will feature activities and hands-on arts and crafts, including face painting and a petting zoo.
The festival will benefit the nonprofit Cupertino Sister City Committee, which promotes friendship and student exchange programs between Cupertino and Toyokawa. For further information about the Cherry Blossom Festival, call 408.257.7424 or 408.255.2093.
Teen commission hosts job fair
The Cupertino Teen Commission will host a job fair at the gymnasium in Monta Vista High School, 21840 McClellan Road, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, email CupertinoTeen@yahoo.

More than 300 artists featured at Open Studios
Original artwork by 350 artists, including 14 Cupertino residents, will be showcased at the 16th annual Silicon Valley Open Studios tour, which will encompass several galleries, museums and bookstores all over the South Bay and the peninsula.
Artwork will include oil paintings, ceramics, mosaics, quilts, handmade books, textiles, black-and-white photography, digitally manipulated photos,stone sculptures, jewelry, calligraphy, digital art and 30-foot-tall metal sculptures.
The Cupertino portion of the Open Studios will take place April 27-28, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Maps of the studios in the city are available at The Collection in the Oaks Plaza at 21269 Stevens Creek Blvd., suite 615. For more information, contact 408.865.0298.
Historial society to host a retrospective on Moffett Field
The Cupertino Historical Society's membership meeting on Tuesday, April 23, will feature a presentation by Moffett Field Museum docent and former naval officer Bill Freez, who will speak about the Moffett Field Historical Society and Museum and the history of the airfield.
The meeting will begin with a potluck at 6:30 p.m., followed by the program at 7:30 p.m. The society will meet in the Cupertino Room inside the Quinlan Community Center at 10185 N. Stelling Road. For more information, call 408.973.1495.
Cupertino community service award seeks nominees
The city of Cupertino is accepting nominations for its annual CREST (Cupertino Recognizes Extra Steps Taken) award, which honors 10 community volunteers who have made significant contributions to the Cupertino community during the past year. Nomination forms can be picked up at such locations as the Cupertino City Hall, the Cupertino Library and the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce. They can also be obtained by calling the city's public information office at 408.777.3262 or by logging on to www.cupertino.org.
The deadline for nominations is April 12, 4:30 p.m. The CREST awards ceremony will be held May 16 at the Quinlan Community Center.
