    Sheriff's Report


    The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.

    Attempted Burglary--April 2, 10:45 a.m., 10100 block of Bret Avenue. Resident returned home and saw a young teen standing next to his residence. A window screen had been removed and when the teen noticed the owner's arrival he got on his bicycle and fled.

    Auto Burglary--April 1, 6:30 p.m., The intersection of Pruneridge and Tantau Avenue. Suspect broke the rear passenger window and unlocked the door to gain entry into victim's vehicle and took a stereo valued at approximately $200.

    Grand Theft by Credit Card--April 1, 9:25 a.m. 20000 block of Homestead Road. Victim reported that she had applied for a credit card in February 2000, but tore it up without activating it. She received a statement claiming an outstanding balance of $750, which someone had charged between March 2000 and September 2001.

    Burglary--April 1, 11 a.m., 21000 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard. A local business reported that the back door was ajar when employees arrived to work. Wood chips were discovered on the floor showing that someone had pried it open from the outside. Several window screens had been removed, but nothing had been taken.

    Burglary--March 31, 8:20 p.m., 20300 block of Bollinger Road. Victim reported that her home was entered and jewelry and coins were taken valued at approximately $1,170. There were no signs of forced entry.

    Petty Theft--March 30, 6:15 p.m., 10100 block of N. Wolfe Road. Suspect entered a local department store and selected a new pair of shoes in a box. She removed them and replaced them with her worn shoes. She left the store wearing the shoes making no attempt to pay for them and was placed under private person's arrest.

    Vandalism--April 2, 2 p.m., 10600 block of N. Stelling Road. A former employee came to a construction site and intentionally damaged tiles in two bathrooms of a house under construction. The damage was estimated to be approximately $1,500

    Burglary--March 29, 5:54 p.m., 10300 block of N. Wolfe Road. Security personnel at local department store noticed two juvenile females select items and exit the store without paying for them. They were confronted outside and it was discovered that they were also in possession of stolen merchandise from two other stores. They were cited and released to a guardian.
