    Teen Commission hosts job fair

    The Cupertino Teen Commission is holding a teen job fair. The event will take place on April 27 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Monta Vista High School gym, 21840 McClellan Rd. Attending teens can get help finding a job, internship or volunteer opportunity from a variety of companies. Music and food will be available, and an hourly raffle will be held.

    At 1 p.m., at the Monta Vista High School tennis courts, there will also be a ceremony for the dedication of the Mobile Skate Park. The city designed the mobile skate park as a more convenient alternative to a permanent one.

    Planning Commission seeks applications

    The city of Cupertino is accepting applications for an unscheduled vacancy on the planning commission for a term that expires Jan. 15, 2005. The vacancy occurred when commission member Geoff Patnoe resigned.

    Applicants must be Cupertino residents. Members will receive a $50 compensation per meeting. The deadline for applications is 5 p.m., May 7. The city council will conduct interviews on May 13.     Senior Dinner and entertainment at Homestead High

    Homestead High School, at 21370 Homestead Road, will be setting for a senior dinner on May 4 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Members from the Homestead

    Interact Club will provide the prom-theme dinner as well as an evening of entertainment.

    Vision New America holds annual Spring Gala May 11

    Vision New America will introduce its Summer 2002 Class of Public Policy interns during the Annual Spring Gala on May 11 at the Santa Clara Westin Hotel. The keynote speaker of this evening event will be U.S. Secretary of Transportation Norm Mineta. Among nearly 50 applicants, a total of 23 students were selected for this year's intern class.

    McWhorter & Young survives

    Stationery store McWhorter & Young wants to clarify the recent confusion caused by the closure of McWhorter's Stationers in the South Bay due to the similarities of their names and product lines. McWhorter & Young is independently owned and has no affiliation with McWhorter's Stationers, which is owned by Ideal Stationers. The store is located at 20558 Stevens Creek Boulevard.
