Helen Perry
Folk dance instructor, 98, teaches classes at Senior Center
|
Helen Perry puts a 45 on the turntable and calls out, 'Get your partners for the cowboy mixer!' On the dance floor, five couples arrange themselves as the music starts. After 10 years of teaching the folk dancing class at the Cupertino Senior Center, Perry's students, including her son and daughter, put on a little party for their teacher on April 19, celebrating Perry's 98th birthday. After a lifetime of teaching dance, Perry doesn't make it out on the dance floor anymore. But she still can't help but bop along with the songs as she DJs the dances.
