    Prepare to bike to work on May 16

    May 16 will be Bike to Work Day. From 6:30 to 9 a.m., energizer stations will have drinks and food for morning bike commuters. Cupertino's three energizer locations will be the Quinlan Community Center, located at the corner of De Anza Boulevard and Mariani Avenue near the Apple Computer sign, and Hewlett Packard, near the corner of Tantau and Pruneridge avenues.

    There will be a prize drawing for those who commute by bicycle May 13 to 19. Yellow entry postcards can be found at local bicycle shops, the Cupertino Public Library and city hall.

    More applicants are needed for the teen commission

    The city of Cupertino is seeking more applicants for its teen commission. The commission advises the city council and parks and recreation department on issues of concern to teens. Applicants must be Cupertino residents. The commission will be comprised of 13 members, who must be in eighth through twelfth grade during their term.

    Applications are available at city hall, the Quinlan Community Center or on the city's website at www.cupertino.org/teens. Applications will be accepted at the city clerk's office, located in city hall at 10300 Torre Ave. The deadline is May 23 at 5:30 p.m.


    Rotary Club to hold presentation on project in Mexico

    Cupertino/Texcoco de Gante Rotary Clubs, a partnership of Rotary Clubs in Cupertino and Texcoco de Gante, Mexico, will present an update on their project with the Wheelchair Foundation to help the people of Texcoco. The special program will take place May 8 at noon at the Quinlan Community Center, 10185 N. Stelling Road.

    Members Chris Lewis and Mark Packard will show a new video by the Wheelchair Foundation that highlights the club's project and trip to Mexico. Also, Lewis will give an update on the club's plan to honor his father, Jerry Lewis, at the Rotary International Convention in Barcelona.
