    Sheriff's Report

The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.

Armed robbery--May 7, 8:15 p.m., 1451 Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road. The suspect walked into the restaurant and placed an order for $2.25 worth of food and handed the clerk a $5 bill. When the clerk opened the register drawer, the suspect jumped and reached over the counter to grab the cash out of the drawer, pushing the clerk back. The clerk saw a semi-automatic pistol in the subject's right hand. The suspect then took the cash, estimated at about $300, and walked out the front door, heading westbound on Wildflower Way.

Lost cell phone--May 7, 11:50 a.m., The Warehouse, 21000 Stevens Creek Boulevard. A Cupertino man said he last saw his cell phone when he parked at the music store, and that he might have left it on the roof of his car. The man canceled his phone service and called the store, but was told they hadn't found the phone, which was valued at $200.

Grand theft--May 5, 2 p.m. A 21-year-old man visiting from The Netherlands reported that he had his suitcase stolen from a relative's locked car sometime during the previous night or morning and that he believed it happened in the parking lot of a restaurant on N. De Anza Boulevard or at the relative's house. The suitcase contained property worth about $1,450, including a video camera.

Speed contest--May 4, 9 p.m., Homestead Road. While on patrol, a deputy spotted three cars racing at an estimated 50 or more miles per hour on Homestead at Forge Way. He stopped two of the three cars for having a speed contest. The drivers were cited and released.
