City government in Cupertino rarely seems as participatory as it did at the June 18 city council meeting, when the council chambers filled beyond capacity with citizens eager to make their opinions known on a variety of topics. Some people, to ensure that the council knew their views, came equipped with signs and placards that they held aloft and waved during key points of the meeting. Though large and vocal, the crowd kept its cool and attendees, for the most part, gave those with opposing viewpoints as much respect as they reserved for those who supported their own stance.
