Sheriff's Report
The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.
Petty Theft--July 8, 5 p.m., Marriott Courtyard. The victim, an employee at the Marriott Courtyard in Cupertino, watched from an upstairs window as the husband of one of her co-workers took the 2000 registration tab from the rear license plate of her vehicle. The victim confronted the suspect, who at first denied the theft. The suspect then gave the tab back to the victim. The victim wanted the suspect arrested for the theft.
Burglary--July 7, 11:40 a.m., Valley Green Apartments. The victim locked her vehicle but left the driver's window rolled down approximately six inches. An unknown suspect reached in, unlocked the driver's door and stole the victim's purse, which was in plain view on the left front floorboard. The purse contained a checkbook, two credit cards, her driver's license and $25 in cash. An expensive car stereo was untouched and the vehicle was not damaged. The deputy was unable to obtain usable fingerprints.
Petty Theft--July 7, 3:20 p.m. 10400 block of North Stelling Road. The victim left her home at 2 p.m. and returned at 2:30 p.m. During that time, an unknown person removed three potted plants from her porch. Each five-gallon plant is shaped like a ball with pink flowers. The neighbors on either side did not notice anything unusual. The victim's home has a circular driveway for easy access and is on a major thoroughfare. There are no suspects.
