Cupertino seeks candidates for advisory boards
The City of Cupertino seeks to fill vacancies on two of its advisory boards--the Cupertino Parks and Recreation Commission and the Cupertino Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Committee.
Residents wishing to apply for the parks and recreation position have until Wednesday, Aug. 23, to return applications to the clerk's office at 10300 Torre Ave. The term for this seat ends January 2003. The city council will interview applicants on Monday, Sept. 5, at 5 p.m.
The parks and recreation commission is composed of five members who advise the council on activities such as park site acquisition and development, recreation program policy and expansion of the park program. Meetings are held at 7 p.m. in City Hall on the first Thursday of each month.
Residents interested in the bicycle and pedestrian safety committee may submit applications at any time. Forms are available from the city clerk's office and should be returned to traffic engineer Raymond Chong. The seven-member committee conducts interviews of applicants and recommends individuals to the city council for appointment to the board.
The bicycle and safety committee meets monthly on the third Tuesday, at 7:30 p.m. in City Hall. Members discuss transportation issues and develop projects that promote safe biking and walking in the community.
Contact Chong at 408.777.3240 for more information on the committee or the application process.
