Asian Business Council
The Cupertino Chamber of Commerce's monthly Asian American Business Council meeting will be held on Oct. 24, at noon at the Chamber office, 20455 Silverado Ave. The purpose of this council is to better cross-market the entire business community through events and networking. The guest speaker will be Felix Chen in the travel section of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco. He will discuss travel and tourism in San Francisco. Peninsula Symphony to perform at Flint Center
Music director Mitchell Sardou Klein opens his 16th season with the Peninsula Symphony on Oct. 21, at 8 p.m. at the Flint Center, 21250 Stevens Creek Blvd, Cupertino. The program will open with the West Coast premiere of the newly completed Barenreiter edition of Beethoven's Symphony No. 7. Season subscriptions are available for $53 regular admission and $48 for seniors and students. Single tickets are $22. International Fashion Show
The Cupertino Senior Center is sponsoring an international fashion show featuring clothing from China, Japan, India, Russia, Poland, Vietnam, the United States and other nations on Oct. 23, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cupertino Senior Center in the Quinlan Community Center, 10185 N. Stelling Rd. The event, organized by a group of Senior Center members who seek to enhance understanding across cultures, will include a variety of national costumes both modern and historic. The significance of the costumes within the country or culture of origin also will be described. Admission to the event is free and advance reservations aren't required, but the show's organizers ask interested parties to call so they can approximate the number of attendees. Vegetarian Cooking Class
Vegetarians new and old, along with those who want to learn more about a plant-based diet are all welcome to participate in the Vegetarian Cooking and Discovery Class on Oct. 19, from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Cupertino High School, Room 2, 10100 Finch Ave. The class, taught by Kay Bushnell, will include cooking demonstrations, as well as tips, food tastings and recipes to take home and tips on making the transition to a vegetarian diet. Students should eat a light meal before the class. Registration fee is $25, and a $5 food and materials fee should be made payable to the instructor. Rosemary Clooney concert scheduled for Flint Center
Legendary singer and Grammy-nominated recording artist Rosemary Clooney will perform at the San Jose Symphony's 20th anniversary SuperPops! Series in two concerts on Oct. 28, at 8 p.m. and Oct. 29, at 2:30 p.m. at Cupertino's Flint Center, 21250 Stevens Creek Blvd. Tickets range in price from $15 to $49.
