Sheriff's Report

The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.

Unattended Death--Oct. 15, 6:15 p.m. Sheriff's deputies responded to a call from the 10000 block of Firwood Drive, after a woman was found dead in her bed. The woman's boyfriend had come to her house to pick her up for a movie and found her lying in bed. There was no sign of a struggle or trauma to her body.

Possession--Oct. 14, 10:40 p.m. Officers making a routine traffic stop at the intersection of Homestead Road and Blaney Avenue discovered the driver to have alcohol on her breath. They performed sobriety tests on her, and placed her under arrest for driving under the influence. During a routine search while arresting the woman, they found a small quantity of cocaine on her person.

Suspected Elder Abuse--
Oct. 13, 11:55 p.m. An elderly, dependent stroke victim residing at the Pleasant View Convalescent Hospital was brought to Valley Medical Center for treatment of a respiratory problem, when she was found to have suspicious bruises on her body.

Burglary--Oct. 15, 9:35 a.m. An unknown person entered a classroom at Collins Elementary School at 10401 Vista Dr. with a key and removed a portable cellular modem and a mouse from a Macintosh computer. The items are valued at $320.
