Items needed include canned foods, dry foods, medicine and bottled water, and financial contributions. Eaton Elementary holding book fair to raise money The newly reopened Eaton Elementary School is holding a book fair Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week, Nov. 18-20. The book fair is open during the days from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Family night is Thursday, from 6 to 8. Clifford the Big Red Dog will be visiting the school that night. The school is at 20220 Suisun Dr. in Cupertino. Library foundation holding plant sale at Vallco Sunday The Cupertino Library Foundation is holding a plant sale at 11 a.m. this Sunday, Nov. 22, in the Vallco Fashion Park mall to benefit the Cupertino Library. Approximately 55 mature indoor plants in self-watering planters will be available at wholesale prices. Money from the sale will go to help enhance services in the new library the city plans on constructing. Some of the projected needs of the new library include high-quality books, more Internet access, reference databases, videos, magazines, newspapers, CDs, audiocassettes and CD ROMS. Student is tied for third in world chess match Lynbrook High School freshman Vinay Bhat tied for third place at the 1998 World Youth Chess Championships in Castellon, Spain, during an, 11-round event held from Oct. 25 to Nov. 6. Bhat represented the United States in the under-14 boys' section. He scored 8.0 points and tied for third with Zahar Efimenko of Ukraine and Dejan Stojanovski of Macedonia. More than 100 youths from approximately 90 countries participated in the section. Bhat was the top scorer for the US team of 11 members in five different age groups. Art studio holds special exhibition of student works The art works of more than 80 students from preschool to college age are on display at a local frame store through Nov. 29. The fifth annual art exhibition by Rainbow Art Studio is being held at Fast Frame, 10745 S. De Anza Blvd. Instructor Kyung Ahn and others have put together a variety of artwork done by the students of all different levels of skill. For more information call 255-4534.
