    New mayor takes over

Richard Lowenthal brings a businesslike perspective to the council

There is a new mayor in town with a familiar face. He was elected to the Cupertino City Council in 1999 after a successful career in the private sector working in the high-tech field with companies like Convergent Technologies, Stratacom Inc. and Cisco Systems. He has worked with Cupertino Community Services, Cupertino Parks and Recreation, and he is chairman of a number of advisory committees. He has held the title of vice mayor for the past year, and he will soon become Mayor Richard Lowenthal.   More
