Former coach put back in jail

Former Homestead High School football coach Jeff Lamson is in jail again for allegedly violating terms of his release from custody after being arrested in August on sexual misconduct charges.

Lamson was remanded by San Jose's Municipal Court Friday for violating conditions of his original release, according to Assistant District Attorney Deborah Baldocchi.

As of Tuesday, Lamson was in custody at the Santa Clara County Main Jail in San Jose.

In August, Lamson was released on $100,000 bail. Following the recent incident, his bail was increased to $600,000.

Because the case is still under investigation, Baldocchi could not comment on what specific terms of his release were violated.

Lamson was originally arrested and charged with one count of oral copulation with a 16-year-old girl and one count of penetration with a foreign object. Both felonies, each crime is alleged to have occurred during the 1990-91 school year.

Lamson is also charged with one misdemeanor count of "annoying or molesting" a 14-year-old girl during the 1996-97 school year.

Lamson's next court appearance, a preliminary hearing, was set for Dec. 18.

Lamson's attorney, Chuck Smith, could not be reached for comment.
