Society teaches how to grow, clone plants
The cloning of human beings may be frowned upon, but at the Sept. 14 meeting of the De Anza chapter of the American Rhododendron Society, participants will learn how to clone plants by using cuttings.
Chapter member Mike McCullough will teach this process of plant propagation using peat moss, Pearlite, Styrofoam drinking cups, straws and gallon-size produce bags. Participants will take home something that will bloom in about four years. Cutting material, including Maddenii series rhododendrons, will be provided.
Participants should bring a bag lunch at 11:30 a.m. The meeting will be at noon. For more information, visit www.deanza-ars.com.
