Globetrotters in SJ
The Harlem Globetrotters will make their annual San Jose visit on Jan. 17 when they play at 7:30 p.m. game at the Compaq Center. The 'Trotters, recent inductees into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, will play a single game in San Jose before playing two games on Jan. 18 at the Oakland Coliseum (2 p.m. and 7 p.m.) and one on Jan. 20 at the Cow Palace (1 p.m.).

Baseball, softball
The Tri-Cities Cupertino American Little Leagues are holding baseball and softball sign-ups for the 2003 season. Players ages 518 are eligible.

Girls soccer
Soccer training will begin soon for girls in the under-11 age group planning to play in the 2003 spring season. Jorge Espinoza, a soccer professional with more than 20 years of experience, will lead the training sessions that will help girls develop skills to play at every level from recreation to class 1. Youth sports grants
The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame (BASHOF) is accepting grant applications from youth organizations and schools interested in purchasing new sports equipment.
