Free citizenship classes are available to residents

Sunnyvale-Cupertino Adult and Community Education is offering two free citizenship preparation classes. Participants will learn about American history and government and practice taking written tests and answering interview questions. One citizenship preparation class will take place 6:30­9:45 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays from Jan. 22 to March 26 The other class will be held 7­9 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, from Jan. 22 to
March 12.

The locations for these classes are Room 91 and Room 83 at Fremont High School, 1279 Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road. Interested residents should register in class on Jan. 22.

Historical society holds lecture on Filoli Center

The Cupertino Historical Society and Museum is offering the fourth lecture in its Gathering at the Crossroads series on Jan. 28 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will feature a slide presentation on the history and gardens of the Filoli Center by Grover Cleveland of the Filoli Speakers Bureau.

The event begins with a potluck at 6:30 p.m. in the Cupertino Room at the Quinlan Community Center. Participants are asked to bring a dish of their choice. The lecture is free for members and $3 for nonmembers.
