The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.
Grand Theft—Feb. 16, 7:30 a.m., Aster Lane. Sometime during the night of Feb. 16, someone opened the victim's toolbox and took cameras, calculators, tapes, a briefcase and assorted hand tools. The value of the lost items is estimated to be more than $1,000. There is no information about the suspect.
Fraud—Feb. 15, 3:15 p.m., Judy Avenue. The victim received a past-due notice from a financial company for a loan of over $15,000. A company representative told him that he had co-signed the loan for a person in 2002. The company had a copy of his driver's license. The victim said he had an ex-employee with the same name as the person "for whom he co-signed the loan." This ex-employee quit her job in April 2002, the same time that the victim lost his driver's license.
Assault and Battery—Feb. 15, 9:55 a.m., Stevens Creek Boulevard. While the victim was driving through the parking lot of a local bank, a bicyclist slammed his hand on the roof of the victim's car. After the victim opened his window, the bicyclist said, "You almost hit me" and then punched the victim above his left eye. The bicyclist left the area and is still at large.
Residential Burglary—Feb. 15, 9:45 a.m., Columbus Avenue. Sometime between Feb. 12 and 14, an unknown person stole a DVD player and a video game player from the family room of the victim's house. There was no sign of forced entry into the residence. The estimated loss is about $450. There is no information about the burglar.
Commercial Burglary—Feb. 14, 8:45 p.m., Wolfe Road. On Feb. 14, a man entered a local store with a large shopping bag. He selected an iron that is worth $150 and concealed it in his bag. He then exited the store without paying for the iron. A police officer arrested and booked him into jail.
Burglary—Feb. 13, 3 p.m., Stevens Creek Boulevard. A woman entered a local store with an empty purse. She removed the tags from $200 worth of clothes and concealed the items in her purse. She then left the store without paying for the items. A store security officer stopped the woman, and she was booked into jail.
Burglary—Feb. 13, 10:15 a.m., Lazaneo Drive. An unknown person entered two local companies and stole six laptop computers from one company and two more from the other. The person is not in custody.
Burglary—Feb. 5, 10:30 a.m., Clubhouse Drive. An unknown person cut the lock on a storage shed at a local golf course and stole approximately 18 cases of beer and wine. The person had entered the property using a key. The person is not in custody.
