Coldwell Banker is offering scholarship
Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage offers a scholarship program to high school seniors. Ten Silicon Valley scholars will be selected from 37 public high schools in both Santa Clara and San Benito counties, including Fremont High School. Each winner will receive a $2,000 scholarship. Coldwell Banker will grant the scholarships to the winners upon enrollment in an accredited four-year university.

Workshop given to manage health, pain
The Stanford Patient Education Research Center is offering two self-management workshops. The arthritis workshop, which is sponsored by the Arthritis Foundation in cooperation with the Stanford Patient Center and Cupertino's Sunny View Lutheran Home, is a six-week course about pain management, arthritis medications and exercise. The Living Well workshop, also sponsored by the patient center and Sunny View, is for people living with chronic health conditions. It's a six-week course on pain management, problem solving, healthy eating, relaxation techniques and exercise.
Participants in both workshops can get help in designing and carrying out their own self-management programs.

Euphrat exhibits art of natural materials
The Euphrat Museum of Art at De Anza College is hosting "ReThinking Nature," an art exhibition
featuring the works of 11 artists. All artworks on exhibit are made from natural materials or are related to changes in the natural world. The exhibition will take place Feb. 20-April 19. A reception featuring artist presentations will take place 6-8 p.m. on March 11.

Art and essay contest to benefit local Asian youth
The Asian Pacific Fund will offer $27,000 in savings bonds to local students as part of its annual Growing Up Asian in America contest. This year's contest theme is "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow: Thinking about Older People and the Environment." Bay Area Asian youth can enter the contest by sharing their stories and ideas on the elderly or the environment through art, essays or poetry.
Contest guidelines are available at all Bay Area public libraries as well as online at http://www.asianpacificfund.org.
Now in its ninth year, the art and essay contest is open to students from kindergarten through 12th grade living in Bay Area cities. Contestants compete in three grade categories—K-5, 6-8 and 9-12—for first-, second- and third-place prizes of $2,000, $1,500 and $1,000 in savings bonds. The deadline for submitting entries is 5 p.m. on March 7.
Winning entries will be announced at the beginning of May, Asian Pacific Heritage Month.

Olympiad of the Arts now accepting entries
High school and college student artists, writers, photographers, dancers and musicians in Santa Clara County are invited to enter the Olympiad of the Arts Competition. The West Valley/Mission Colleges Foundation is hosting this year's competition, which is supported by the Arts Council of Silicon Valley and the Saratoga Rotary Art Show. Winning students will be awarded $6,000 at the Saratoga Rotary Art Show at West Valley College on May 4.
