Teams have top GPAs

The Central Coast Section recently announced its winter season scholastic championship teams, and Lynbrook had three teams place among the top finishers.

The Vikings posted a 3.5070 cumulative grade point average to finish second among wrestling teams in the section. The Lynbrook girls basketball team was sixth at 3.6710 and the boys basketball was sixth at 3.6070.

The Cupertino girls basketball team was fifth overall at 3.6721.

Panthers in playoffs


Cupertino's Raissa Marchetti-Kozlov and Cynthia Sleight were members of the Woodside Priory girls basketball team that advanced to the Central Coast Section Division V playoffs this season. It marked the second straight trip to the postseason for Woodside Priory and old the third berth for the school in its history.

The Panthers lost to Valley Christian­Dublin 42-32 in the playoffs to wind up the year with a 14-10 record overall.


ShockForce tryouts

The De Anza ShockForce, a girls under 15 class 3 soccer team, will hold tryouts for the spring and under-16 fall seasons on March 6 and 11, 5­7 p.m., at Jollyman Park (Stelling field).

The team trainer is Adrianne Moriera and practice sessions will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30­7 p.m., at Jollyman. There is also a summer camp scheduled.

The team is part of the DeAnza Youth Soccer League which is a member of the California Youth Soccer Association and serves the youth of the Cupertino and Saratoga area.


Youth volleyball

The U.S. Youth Volleyball League is currently holding sign-ups for its eight-week spring program, which will begin April 10 at the field of Cupertino Library. The instructional league is open to players ages 8­14 and operates in a coed format. The $95 fee includes a uniform, an individual medal and equipment. The deadline to register is March 1.
