Sheriff's Report
The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon—March 14, 12:44 p.m., Finch Ave. On March 14 at around 1 p.m., a sheriff's officer was dispatched to Stendahl Lane and Shadygrove Drive to investigate an assault. The officer contacted the victim at a local hospital, where he was being treated. The victim, who was suffering from pain in his jaw, said a person hit him with a skateboard and he had lacerations in the back of his head. The officer arrested and booked the suspect into juvenile jail.

Vandalism—March 13, 11:10 p.m., Carver Drive. The victim parked his work vehicle on the street in front of his house at about 9 p.m. on March 13. When he went outside to check on the vehicle an hour later, he found the front driver's side window smashed. He said a rock was on the dashboard of the vehicle. The victim did not find anything missing from the vehicle. The estimated damage is between $300 and $400.

Grand Theft—March 13, 5:55 p.m., Valley Green Drive. An employee at a local computer company said she left a laptop computer unsecured on her desk while she went to lunch. When she returned the computer was gone. A sheriff's officer entered the computer's serial number into the stolen property system. The value of the computer is approximately $1,750.

Institutional Burglary—March 13, 8:45 a.m., Homestead Road. During a high school's winter break from Feb. 14 to Feb. 24, an unknown person entered a locked classroom and stole a desktop computer. The burglar remains at large.

Identify Theft—March 13, 10:15 a.m., Blaney Avenue. An unknown person used the victim's personal information to obtain a credit card through a credit agency. Using the credit card, the person purchased more than $2,600 worth of computer products. The victim, who has contacted three consumer credit services since the incident, said he did not authorize the purchases. He does not know how the person got his personal information.

Vandalism—March 11, 12:30 p.m., Bollinger Road. An unknown person used a sharp object to scratch the right rear and left front fenders of the victim's car, which was in the parking lot at a local school. The scratches are 6 to 12 inches long. The victim has no idea who vandalized her car. The estimated cost to repair the damages is approximately $400.
