Sheriff's Report
The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.

Petty Theft—March 30, 12:30 a.m., Dorval Drive. On March 30 at around 7:30 p.m., the victim left her residence to visit a friend on Miller Avenue. She brought her wallet and kept it inside her vehicle, and she did not lock her car while she was visiting with her friend. When she returned home later that night, she found that her wallet was missing. There is no known suspect.

Use of Counterfeit Credit Card—March 29, 2:45 p.m., Wolfe Road. Three persons used counterfeit credit cards and fake identification documents to obtain gift certificates, jewelry and clothes for resale or personal use. The police have booked one suspect, age 28, into main jail and another suspect, age 17, into juvenile jail. The third person fled before the police officer's arrival and remains at large.

Burglary—March 29, 9:05 a.m., Crystal Rey Drive. An unknown person entered the lobby of a retirement home. After unlocking the drawers of the receptionist's desk, the person took about $19 from a cash box and six facility keys. The retirement home staff suspect that a resident who was recently served with an eviction notice may have been responsible for the burglary. The resident denied any involvement.

Vandalism—March 28, 8:57 p.m., Ann Arbor Avenue. The victim said that an unknown person had thrown a rock through a second-story window in her home. The rock shattered the window and tore through a cloth blind that was covering the window. The cost to replace the window and the blind is more than $580. There is no known suspect at this time.

Grand Theft—March 25, 5 p.m., Wolfe Road. The victim placed his laptop computer in its case and left it in the rear storeroom at a local store's shoe department at about 2 p.m. on March 25. Upon returning at 4 p.m., he discovered the laptop computer was missing. There are no known suspects, or witnesses.

Extortion—March 25, 4 p.m., Stelling Road. A juvenile probation officer reported extortion at a foster home. The residence on Stelling Road is a foster home for dependent minors. Both the victim and the suspect are wards of the court. For approximately seven months, the suspect has been demanding money from the victim and threatening bodily injury if the victim does not pay. The victim did not report the extortion in the past because he feared the suspect would harm him.

Vandalism—March 25, 12:25 p.m., Wolfe Road. On March 25, someone scratched the left side of a vehicle parked at a local shopping mall, causing more than $500 in damage. Currently there is no known suspect.
