But when the local girls battled the Mustang Fury for the 2003 under 13 State Cup, the Strykers came up just a goal short.

The Strykers lost 1-0 to the Fury in overtime in the finals in Petaluma. The two clubs were scoreless through regulation, but a Mustang goal two minutes into the extra period turned out to be the difference in the game.

Still, it was quite a year for the Strykers, who had two wins, two losses and two ties in six meetings with the Fury this season.

Stephanie Righetti, Lindsay Taylor and Jessica Lau played well enough to earn State Olympic Development recognition.

Forward Bianca Springer and goalkeeper Bianca Henniger joined with Jessica Ingram, Jenna Brehmer, Sarah Pitzen, Nicole Santo, Kelsey Poulsen, Sofie Lynn, Courtney Cook, Megan Foertsch, Elora Martinez, Karina Cavanna and Shannon Righetti to round out the team. Bob Joyce was the trainer and Steve Righetti and Dave Pitzen were the coaches.
