Choral music concert to celebrate cultures
In celebration of the many cultures and people of the world, the San José State University Concert Choir and Chorale announce "Unite the World in Song," a special multicultural choral music program.
This concert, which is scheduled to take place on April 25 at 8 p.m. at the Lincoln Glen Church in San Jose, will give the audience a chance to see and hear the shapes and moods of music from around the world.
Tickets are $25 for preferred seating, $15 for general seating, $10 for students and seniors, and $50 for sponsors. Following the concert, there will be a reception. For tickets or more information, call 408.924.4332.
Old cell phones help endangered species
Happy Hollow Park and Zoo in San Jose has set up a permanent collection point to collect unwanted cellular phones, which will be sent to The Wireless Foundation. For each phone donated, Happy Hollow will receive funds, which will then be donated to the nonprofit Balikpapan Orangutan Society to help preserve one of the most critically endangered species on earth, the orangutan, as well as its habitat.
The public may donate their used wireless phones at the Happy Hollow front castle entrance between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. every day or mail them to Happy Hollow Park and Zoo, Cell Phone Recycle, 1300 Senter Road, San Jose, 95112. For more information, call Vanessa Rogier at 408.277.3065.
SJ Discovery Museum to celebrate dance
To celebrate National Dance Week, the Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose is inviting families to see Sleeping Beauty on April 26 at 1 and 2:30 p.m.
Dancers ages 11 to 15 from the San Jose Dance Theatre Company will perform several variations from the ballet Sleeping Beauty. For more information about the museum, visit http://www.cdm.org.
Oaks Theater will refund discount ticket purchases
Those patrons of the Oaks Theater who bought discount tickets before the theater closed can receive a refund by mail.

Tylenol scholarships for
college health majors
Tylenol is awarding 160 grants to students studying in a health-related field in undergraduate or graduate programs. Winners are selected on the basis of leadership in community and school activities, grade point average and intended focus on health-care related areas of study. Special plants for sale at Guadalupe Gardens
Seventy varieties of heirloom and hybrid tomatoes, hot chilies and sweet peppers are some of the plants on sale at the Spring in Guadalupe Gardens event, which will take place 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 26.
Organized by the University of California Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners of Santa Clara County, the sale will feature special plants that are unavailable at local nurseries.
The event will feature a children's area offering activities to educate youth about pollution prevention. Guadalupe Gardens is located in Columbus Park in San Jose. Admission to the event is free.
Local wildflowers on display
The Santa Clara Valley chapter of the California Native Plant Society is holding its 31st annual educational expo to showcase wildflowers of Santa Clara and San Mateo counties.
The event, which is free, will display more than 400 species of wildflowers and native plants. Botanists and gardeners will be on hand to answer questions.
