The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.
Check Forgery—April 15, 5:30 p.m., November Drive. A bank called the victim and informed him that a check containing his account number but a different name had been cleared. The victim does not have an account with the bank and does not know how the check may have been made. The check was cashed for $635.
Attempted Auto Theft—April 15, 9 a.m., Miller Avenue. On April 15, at approximately 9:05 a.m., a sheriff's officer was dispatched to Miller Avenue to investigate an auto burglary. The victim said someone had broken into his car on April 14 between the hours of 7 and 11 p.m. The car's ignition was broken and hanging below the steering column.
Burglary—April 14, 9:25 a.m., Homestead Road. Sometime between April 11 and 14, someone broke into a storage shed at a local business, taking several pieces of gardening tools and equipment. The reporting party was unable to provide the serial numbers of the missing items; therefore they were not entered into the stolen property system.
Identity Theft—April 14, 7:15 a.m., Lindy Lane. On April 14 at approximately 7:15 a.m., a sheriff's officer was dispatched to meet a victim of an identity theft at the sheriff's station in Saratoga. The victim said that someone had charged his credit card to open an Internet account. The victim said he does not do business with this particular Internet service provider and had not given anyone permission to use his credit card. The victim wanted a report to pursue charges against the perpetrator.
Auto Burglary—April 14, 7:15 a.m., Sorenson Avenue. The victim said he parked his vehicle in the open garage at his apartment complex. Sometime during the night, an unknown person broke the rear left passenger window. The person also took a black bag, which contained books, papers and other miscellaneous items. The total value of the missing items is approximately $50.
