Traffic bad with Los Altos youth in Cupertino schools
After reading the article about the library donor problem, I found it interesting that Mr. Chan and his family live in Los Altos but his children go to school here in Cupertino.
Gee, now I know why I can't drive around Cupertino during school hours. What's up with that?

Fred Chan is living in Los Altos but he is also in the Cupertino School District. School district boundries often have little to do with city boundaries. For example, the Cupertino School District includes some schools in Sunnyvale, San Jose, Los Altos and Santa Clara. —Editor
Recall effort displays the need for board members
It is through the Cupertino Union School District board recall that I realized the significance of the board's responsibilities and how the individual votes of each board member, taken as a majority, could generate long-term impacts and consequences that our children and the community must live with.
The current board decides who shall be the district's superintendent for the next term.
As we march forward, through voter education that campaign volunteers have done in the past six months, we hope to generate more attention toward the upcoming school board election for this November. The two elected board members—whom voters will choose to take the board seats for the next four years—will have a direct influence over major issues, such as the fate of K3 class-size reduction, which will affect the number of teaching staff members, the closing of elementary schools, the middle school implementation and the overall financial health of the district.
