5Cs review a Hispanic memoir next meeting

At its meeting on May 7, the Citizens of Cupertino Cross-Cultural Consortium (5Cs) will review Breaking Through, a memoir by Santa Clara University professor Francisco Jimenez.

The book focuses on 14-year-old Francisco and his family, who are caught by la migra (immigration officers) and forced to leave their California home.

The memoir was selected this year in the "Silicon Valley Reads: One Book, One Community" project.

The 5Cs organizes multicultural presentations, book reviews and ethnic restaurant visits every three months and meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at Cupertino City Hall unless noted otherwise.
