Alberda a Lancer
Tjeerd Alberda of Cupertino will transfer from De Anza College to Mount Marty College in Yankton, S.D., in the fall to continue his soccer career playing for the Lancers.
Alberda, an all-conference second team player for the conference champion Dons in 2002, is considered a strong defender, according to Mount Marty coach Charles Long.
Originally from Holland, Alberda is the son of Okke and Ria Alberda and starred locally at Monta Vista High School before moving on to De Anza. He was the most valuable defender for the Matadors as a senior and went on to play for two conference championship teams at De Anza.
Auclair a winner
Kyle Auclair, the son of Homestead girls basketball coach Judy Auclair, flew to a win in the long jump while competing for the UC Davis men's track and field team in the Sacramento Spring Festival held recently at Sacramento State.
Auclair, the defending California Collegiate Athletic Association champion in the event, recorded a personal best 24-1.5 to win long jump at the festival.
