The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.
Helicopter Arrest—May 3, 7:35 p.m., Tantau Avenue. A deputy on patrol stopped a vehicle for not having a front license plate. The men were acting suspiciously when the deputy was talking to them. When the deputy officer was informed over the radio that the vehicle had been stolen, the two men took off running. The sheriff's helicopter was called in to aid in the search. One of the men was quickly arrested; however, the other man got away by jumping residential fences. The deputy officer was able to identify the driver and had issued a warrant for his arrest. The stolen vehicle contained stolen property, narcotics for sale and burglary tools.
Grand Theft—May 3, 2 p.m., Stevens Creek Boulevard. The victim said she parked and locked her car in front of a business on Stevens Creek Boulevard. While she was away for several minutes, someone smashed the car window and stole her purse from the passenger seat.
Petty Theft—May 2, 8 a.m., Byrne, Imperial and San Fernando avenues. During the night on May 2, someone entered three unlocked cars parked on Byrne, Imperial and San Fernando avenues and took various items. A purse was taken from one of the vehicles. A neighbor had found a wallet inside the purse down the street. All the credit cards were missing.
Auto Burglary—May 1, 7 a.m., Forge Way. Sometime during the night on May 1, an unknown person smashed a window of a parked vehicle and stole the in-dash stereo, a pair of sunglasses and some tennis balls.
Criminal Threats—April 23, 8 a.m., Homestead Road. The victim, who is a teacher at a local high school, received two threatening and sexual emails from an unknown person. The emails were sent to her work email address at the school.
Auto Burglary—April 20, La Mar Drive. The victim parked his pickup truck on the street in front of his residence. Sometime during the night, an unknown person opened the unlocked toolbox in the bed of the truck and stole numerous tools. The total loss is over $700.
