City invites residents' help on task force

The city is inviting residents to apply to serve on the Cupertino General Plan Task Force. The Cupertino City Council will select 69 residents for the task force. Applicants will need to be available during the summer.

Task force meetings are tentatively scheduled for weekday evenings June through September. There will also be field trips during the day.

The task force will meet in small groups to discuss and make recommendations on key issues identified in the administrative draft of the General Plan, which has already been released.

The city council has determined that there should be more community participation in reviewing it prior to public hearings in the late fall.

Interested residents can download a task force application from the city's website at www.cupertino.org. For more information, contact Ciddy Wordell, city planner, at 408.777.3236.

Historical society holds ragtime event

The Cupertino Historical Society and Museum is hosting a fundraising barbecue and ragtime event at 6 p.m. on June 3 in the Cupertino Room at the Quinlan Community Center.

Andy's Oakwood Bar-B-Que in Campbell will provide a catered meal for the event. Participants can also enjoy wine tasting, live "ragtime" tunes, an auction and a raffle.

Tickets are $20 per person in advance and $30 at the door. For more information, contact the Cupertino Historical Society and Museum at 408.973.1495.
