Capener earns Eagle Scout badge by organizing supplies
Kevin Capener, son of Chris and Lynne Capener of Cupertino, earned the rank of Eagle Scout at just 14 years old. The ceremony took place on June 20 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Bollinger Road, where the Capeners are members. The church sponsors Kevin's Boy Scout Troop 470.

Kevin has earned 22 merit badges and for his Eagle Scout project, he installed emergency sheds for the Stevens Creek Elementary School. His job was to coordinate the school, the funding and the installation. He followed up by taking all the school's emergency supplies and organizing them into two sheds, one for first aid and one for search and rescue, emergency food, and student release supplies.

Kevin also cleaned, organized and resupplied the emergency packs for each classroom in the school. During his last year at Kennedy Middle School, Kevin earned straight A's. Kevin has played the flute for the last three years, and he's already enrolled in the Marching Band at Monta Vista High School where he will be a freshman next fall.
