Annual festival brings fun to Memorial Park

Belly-dancing, a bungee run, arts and crafts booths and barbecued sausages on a roll are just a few attractions of the 28th annual Cupertino Art & Wine Festival, scheduled to take place at Memorial Park on July 19 and 20.

According to festival coordinator Marty West, this year's event--produced by the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce--features 150 artists who will showcase and sell their artwork and crafts, including paintings, jewelry and woodwork.

In addition, attendees can participate in various games and activities in the Kids Zone, such as candle making and a train ride.

Food ranges from onion rings to crepes; beer, margaritas, soft drinks and wine will also be available.

The city anticipates 40,000 attendees this year.

More than 300 volunteers have signed up to work at the two-day festival.

All event proceeds will benefit the Chamber and its programs and services, which provide support to the local business community.

Segway demo comes to Cupertino July 24

On behalf of the Cupertino Bicycle and Pedestrian Commission, there will be a Segway Demonstration by V-Fluence of San Diego at 2 p.m. on July 24 on Finch Avenue between Vallco Parkway and Stevens Creek Boulevard.

The Segway™ Human Transporter (HT) is the first self-balancing, electric-powered transportation device.

With dimensions no larger than the average adult body, the Segway HT uses the same space as a pedestrian and can go wherever a person can walk. It has the ability to emulate human balance.
