Sheriff's Report
The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.

Assault—July 12, 10:30 a.m., Homestead Road. A man had been arguing with the victim at work and unexpectedly punched the victim in the face. A fight ensued. During the fight, the man bit the victim's arm, causing bleeding. The victim went to the hospital for antibiotics. The suspect was arrested and booked.

Petty Theft—July 12, 9:50 a.m. At 9 a.m., a woman discovered that her unlocked vehicle, parked in her driveway, had been entered. A Chevron credit card and a Palm Pilot still in the box had been taken from the front seat. The Palm Pilot is valued at $399; the victim was unable to provide the serial number. The credit card was entered into the stolen property system.

Unlawful possession of Disabled Placard—July 11, 10:30 p.m., Stevens Creek Boulevard and Junipero Serra. During a traffic stop for an unsafe entry into traffic, the police officer found a lost/stolen disabled placard in the vehicle. The passenger said the owner of the placard had used the disabled placard in the car with the driver. She claimed that the owner was a personal friend. The officer confirmed the owner name and found that the placard was reported lost/stolen along with three placards with the same name.

Petty Theft—July 10, 3:15 p.m. Two women removed the tags and censors from INC brand tank tops. A clerk observed the price switching and held the two women until the police came. The women returned the property to the department store. One of them was cited, and both were released at the scene because the store did not prosecute.

Vandalism—July 9, 6 p.m., Stelling Road. An unknown person spray-painted four-letter words on the exterior of a vehicle. The car owner's daughter believed the vandalism was directed at her because her former boyfriend was angry at her. Attempts to reach the former boyfriend have been unsuccessful. It's estimated to cost $300 to repaint the rear spare tire cover. The rest of the paint came off with a cleaning agent.

Identity Theft—July 9, 11 a.m., Gardena Drive. On June 23, a woman obtained the victim's personal identification and used the victim's information to rent an apartment in the city of Oakland. The suspect is at large.

Grand Theft—July 9, 10:30 a.m. Between 1:30 and 2:45 p.m., an unknown person took an electrician's toolbox from a construction site at the school's gym. The total value of the box and its contents amounted to $690. There are no known suspects and there is no physical evidence. No one on the site saw anything suspicious . All subcontractors were questioned about the theft and none could give any new information about the incident.

Possession of Marijuana and Fraudulent ID—July 8, 2:50 a.m., Greenwood Court. A man sitting in a parked car on Greenwood Court said he had a white plastic bag of marijuana in the right pocket of his pants. The police officer located four individually packaged baggies of marijuana with a combined weight of less than 1 oz. in the man's pocket. The officer also found a fraudulent driver's license in the suspect's wallet. The man, who is under 21, used the identification to purchase alcohol. The marijuana and fake driver's license were booked into the evidence locker of the West Valley substation.
