The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.
Burglary—July 19, 2:43 p.m., Wolfe Road. A man brought into a store a pocketknife, wire cutters, two plastic bags and an empty box covered with reflective wrap. In a fitting room, he removed the sensors from merchandise with the wire cutters and knife. Then he concealed the merchandise in bags and a box and left the store without paying. The store's security employees arrested him. The man was booked into the main jail.
Possessing Fireworks and Trespassing—July 19, 12:45 a.m., Stevens Creek. Several people set off fireworks on the top level of a local college's parking garage after posted hours of operation. A janitor heard the blast and called the police. The police stopped the people at gunpoint when they drove down the garage ramp to leave. The police found several dangerous fireworks in the car. The people were cited and released with a promise to appear in court. The fireworks were booked into the hazardous evidence locker of the police station.
Petty Theft—July 18, 10:40 p.m., De Anza Boulevard. While putting gasoline in his vehicle, a man put his wallet on the roof of his car. He drove away from the gas station without realizing the wallet was on the roof. After a couple of blocks, he realized his wallet was missing and returned to the station. He located the wallet approximately 100 yards down De Anza Boulevard in the middle of the street. Missing from the wallet were two credit cards, an ATM card, a driver's license and $110 cash. There are no suspects at this time.
