Burglary suspects held in Santa Clara

The police have been working on several leads in an attempt to clean up some Cupertino burglaries.

Their work paid off Aug. 22 when they made a visit to the suspects' hotel room in Santa Clara.

Two adult males and an adult female were arrested for being under the influence of a narcotic, possessing narcotics for sale and stolen property, as well as taking part in several Cupertino automobile and home burglaries.

Detectives are still investigating the case and assisting neighboring agencies in clearing up some of their cases.

Modern fashions for Muslim women

Flippant, an Eastern clothing line, is holding its launch party and fashion show Sept. 7.

This clothing line was started by Cupertino resident Sadiya Shaik and her friends who seek to combine both Western and Eastern styles for modern Muslim women. But Shaik stresses that their clothes are suitable for any woman who wants to maintain a sense of style and uniqueness while keeping a sense of modesty.

The fashion show also features poetry reading, singing, as well as flamenco and belly dancing.

But the party, which starts at 5:30 p.m. in the California Ballroom of the Santa Clara Marriott, 2700 Mission College Blvd. in Santa Clara, is for women only.

Tickets cost $20 per person in advance and $25 at the door.
