Artist Peter Max created the cover of this week's Courier using a photograph of the city's icon—a morion, the helmet worn in 1776 by Captain Juan Bautista de Anza, the Spanish explorer credited with being the first one to record the existence of this part of the world. The picture provided by the city of Cupertino is of the sculpture that normally stands outside the library.
