City seeks input on wireless master plan
Have you ever used your wireless phone at home and found out it didn't work? Surveys show that personal wireless services, including cellphones, have spotty or no coverage in the Bay Area, especially in residential neighborhoods. To meet residents' growing demand for wireless services, the city's planning staff has been working with the Telecommunications Commission over the past year to develop a wireless master plan.
The draft will be reviewed by the Planning Commission at its Sept. 22 meeting. Public input is important because the plan will impact how the community looks and works for years to come.
To download the document, visit the city's website at www.cupertino.org or call the community development department at 408.777.3308 for more information.
Volunteers needed to clean up creek
Volunteers are needed to clean up California's creeks and coast on Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to noon at more than 600 locations throughout the state.
Volunteers will clean the debris from 1,100 miles of the California coast as well as the shorelines of bays, creeks, rivers, and lakes that aid in the transfer of trash and debris to the Pacific Ocean.
In Cupertino, more than 50 volunteers will be needed to clean up the Stevens Creek Reservoir at Stevens Creek County Park.
Last year, 62 volunteers removed about 750 pounds of trash and 180 pounds of recycles, as well as car parts, diapers and pornographic magazines.
Volunteers will meet at the dam's parking area. Children are welcome with adult supervision. Registration is not necessary.
