Mustangs win

Kelly Cefalu finished with a goal and an assist to lead the Homestead girls field hockey team to a lopsided 5-0 non-league victory over Berkeley last week.

Cefalu and Mariko Caster each scored unassisted goals in the first half to give the Mustangs a 2-0 lead at intermission.

Nicole Caballero scored unassisted 1:15 into the second half to make it 3-0 before Flavia Garcia scored off of assists from Cefalu and Shaida Johnson.

Melanie Gularte capped the scoring with a goal 20:17 into the second half.

Homestead evened its record at 1-1 with the victory.

SCU golf tourney

The annual Santa Clara University Bronco Baseball Golf Tournament will return to the Cinnabar Hills Golf Club on Oct. 24. A 12:30 p.m. shotgun start will follow a 10 a.m.­noon registration.

The entry fee for the best ball scramble tournament will be $220 ($235 after Oct. 8) and will include green fees, a golf cart, a photo with foursome, range balls, tee prizes, lunch and dinner. The cost for the dinner only is $65.

There are also tee sponsor packages available that include a tee sponsor sign and golf program recognition for $150, $1,000 (also includes tourney entry fee for two, Bronco season passes for two, Bronco Baseball Summer Camp passes for two, throw out the first pitch at a Bronco home game), and $2,000 (also includes all of the same items for four plus a bottle of Silver Oak wine).
