The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.
Grand Theft—Nov. 9, 11:20 a.m., Bandley Avenue. A woman was seen putting merchandise into her shopping cart at a market. Employees saw her exit the store without attempting to pay for the merchandise. She was placed under citizens' arrest for theft of $245 in seafood. The woman gave permission to search her car and an additional $241 in stolen seafood and nuts were recovered. The woman was booked into the main jail.
Burglary—Nov. 9, 9:44 a.m., Alpine Drive. Unknown person(s) shattered the glass of the right front passenger door of the victim's vehicle parked on the street. The unknown person(s) took the victim's purse, which was on the floorboard of the vehicle. In the missing purse was the victim's California driver's license, wedding ring, bracelet, ATM card, $20 and her Social Security card.
Robbery—Nov. 8, 7:20 p.m., Bandley Drive. After the victim exited her vehicle, unknown people shoved her to the ground from behind and forcefully took her purse. As the people fled the scene, a witness was able to catch one of them. One person was arrested and transported to juvenile hall for booking. The other people are still at large.
Petty Theft—Nov. 8, 6:50 p.m., Stevens Creek Boulevard. A woman entered a store and selected various items with a total of $181.85. She entered the restroom and concealed the items inside her bag. She exited the store without paying for the items. She was placed under citizens' arrest. An officer cited and released her.
Petty Theft—Nov. 8, 4:20 p.m., N. Wolfe Road. A woman selected an item of clothing and went into a fitting room. There the woman removed the sensor and concealed the item inside her purse. The woman was cited and released.
Petty Theft with Prior Conviction—Nov. 8, 3:40 p.m., Homestead Road. A man entered a supermarket, selected a beer and sandwich, put the merchandise in the front of his pants and left the store without paying for the merchandise. The man had a prior conviction for petty theft without prior conviction and served four months in county jail for that. He was booked into the main jail.
Vandalism—Nov. 8, 9:45 a.m., Barrington Bridge Lane. A man and his wife observed a male juvenile spray painting the safety wall along the Saratoga Creek Trail behind Ashbourne Lane. The teenager fled the scene with two other juveniles. He left a backpack, which included his name on a school schedule and two small cans of aerosol paint. The man located three juveniles hiding in a bush along the trail. The teenager who spray painted the wall fled. A police officer later found the boy, cited him and released him to his parents.
Fraudulently Obtaining Money—Nov. 7, 8:30 p.m., S. De Anza Boulevard. An unknown person used the victim's bank account number to withdraw $1,500 from her account without authorization. The accounts are closed but the person is still outstanding.
Vandalism and Petty Theft—Nov. 7, 10:15 a.m., Bandley Avenue. Unknown person(s) pried open the electrical money feed opening for dollar bills on a soda vending machine in front of a grocery market and took about $300 in cash. The vending machine will be replaced at a cost of about $3,000.
