Sheriff's Report
The following incidents were culled from reports filed by deputies at the sheriff's Westside Substation.

Auto Burglary—Jan. 11, between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m., 21200 block of Homestead Road. Unknown person(s) entered this locked and parked vehicle by an unknown means. They stole the in-dash stereo system and laptop computer that was in plain view.

Auto Burglary—Jan. 11, 11 a.m., 10100 block of Parkwood Drive. Sometime during the night, unknown person(s) entered this parked and locked vehicle by smashing a window. They stole a sports bag that was in plain view containing $140 worth of property.

Vandalism—Jan. 10, 1:25 a.m., Vai and Hyannisport avenues and Linda Vista Drive. Unknown person(s) smashed the windows of at least five parked vehicles.

Vandalism—Jan. 10, between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m., Canyon Oak Way and Manzanita Court. Several homes, vehicles, and equipment were spray painted. The vandals caused thousands of dollars in damage.

Possession of Marijuana—Jan. 9, 2:46 p.m., Linda Vista Drive and McClellan Road. An alert citizen reported a suspicious vehicle in the area. Responding deputies located the car and a 19-year-old male driver from Burbank, Calif. He was cited and released.

Scam—Jan. 8, 5:20 p.m., 18200 block of Chelmsford Drive. A man knocked on a resident's door and said that he was a neighbor who had locked himself out of the house. He asked to borrow $40 for a taxi ride to work and he provided a false name. He told the victim that his wife would arrive home shortly to repay him.
