Get rid of some old working computers

The FoothillDe Anza Community College District's Computer Scholarship Program wants used computers that work.

They will make sure a deserving college student receives a good used computer.

The Occupational Training Institute sponsors the program in a joint effort with the FoothillDe Anza Colleges Foundation.

Students apply for the used computers at the financial-aid office at either De Anza or Foothill.

The institute is responsible for processing the donated computers. That includes collecting them, refurbishing each unit and installing software and operating systems. In addition, the hard drive is reformatted to ensure that all data is erased before the system has a new owner.

To make this program work, donated computers must meet or exceed minimum equipment standards. Please review those standards at www.oti.fhda.edu/computer_donation.html or contact program coordinator Susan Malmgren at 408.864.5713.

People may also donate money to the program. Cash donations are needed to buy computer replacement parts. The donation, whether it is equipment or money, is tax deductible to the extent provided by law.
