Obituary
Shirley Michaels
Shirley Michaels lived in Cupertino for 27 years, and while here, she made a number of friends that she hated to leave behind when she moved to Roseville to enjoy her retirement. Making friends was a habit with Michaels.

"During her life, she always would lend a helping hand," says her daughter, Barbara Schisler of Fayetteville, North Carolina. Michaels died on Jan. 21 in Roseville at the age of 75.

She was born in Erie, Pa., on March 13, 1928, and spent several years of her childhood there before moving to California. After Michaels met her husband, the late John Michaels, while working as a waitress, the two married in Carson City, Nev. They later moved to Cupertino, where they raised their family: Schisler, and sons Dennis and Kenneth. Kenneth preceded his mother in death.

Schisler says Michaels was always involved, volunteering with Boy and Girl Scouts in addition to working at Hewlett-Packard. When Michaels moved to Roseville, she pursued her interests in sewing and crafts, joining the Roseville Quilters and spending time at the Maidu Senior Center.

In addition to her children, Michaels leaves behind a granddaughter and two great-granddaughters. Memorials can be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1765 Challenge Way, Ste. 115, Sacramento, CA 95815.
