Winning is in the bag for Dena May King
Dena May King, owner of the custom clothing business Dena May Originals, won top honors in the American Cancer Society's 25thannual Fashion Show Competition in Petaluma. King was tops in the 'Brown Bag Challenge,' which gave designers at least three yards of a challenging fabric to be incorporated into a garment. After receiving six yards of dirty, damaged China silk crepe, King spliced it into an old Japanese kimono, using 75 yards of fabric tubing, 25 yards of cotton cording and 15 yards of 24-gauge wire to create one of her characteristic designs. The model was Lauren Mosher of Los Altos Hills.
